Landscaping
Eclectic Nature is a landscaping company of a different kind. We are known for being able to transform even the most uninspired plot into a garden of exquisite color and shape.
Our clients appreciate beauty and we can see the possibilities of the space, create a design and oversee the installation from beginning to end. We personally select every plant for every job. We use the best suppliers if it’s not in stock at the nursery, so we can control the quality. And because we spend so much time in soil preparation, our replacement rate is extremely low.
Eclectic Nature is deeply aware of current gardening trends. Although gardens are still much prized as horticultural displays, today they’re often seen as outdoor rooms that provide relaxation and atmosphere for a family’s way of life. In designing a garden, we inventory the needs of the customer, much as one would do in designing a house.
Christy’s (the owner), degree in business management serves her well in running the company. She is a member of professional horticultural associations and has extensive experience in the nursery business. Her appointment as head landscape designer at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria brought her to the attention of many discriminating gardeners in the area who continue to solicit her advice and services.
She regularly attends horticultural symposiums and lectures and is a member of NVNLA and a Virginia Certified Nurseryman. Christy feels no matter how much you know, you can always learn more.
Typically, an Eclectic Nature design includes early and late spring blooms as well as plants that flower during the summer and into the fall. Unafraid to use deciduous plants in a perennial garden, we believe that the bare boughs of an ornamental hydrangea or beauty berry present a strikingly beautiful contrast to evergreens in the winter garden.
The age of a garden is an important factor in our approach to a job. The land around newly-built houses needs really thorough preparation. The topsoil has been taken off in the construction process, and the clay beneath is usually full of debris, so our first step is to spend lots of time enhancing the soil. On the other hand, gardens in older neighborhoods generally have soil that is loamy and rich, but present a different problem. A garden older than 15 years generally needs a face lift. Plants have a life span, just as people do, and old shrubs are often woody, shapeless and overgrown. One of our greatest pleasures is redesigning an old garden, preserving plants that are still in good condition, but reconfiguring the space, redefining the beds and adding a creative, well-placed combination of new plants.
Among the many services offered by Eclectic Nature are garden consultations, landscape design and installation, and garden maintenance. Ultimately what sets Eclectic Nature apart from other landscape and garden companies is the highly individualized attention we give to each of our clients. When you hire Eclectic Nature, both you and your garden become important to us. Eclectic Nature is licensed, incorporated and insured.
